Pasi Granqvist

BIO

Pasi Granqvist (Kotka, Finland 1972) is a visual artist who concentrates his work to video and installation.

He began his studies with art and design at 1980’s in Finland and Estonia. Later he studied sculpture and new media at Gerrit Rietveld art Academy in Amsterdam.

Upon graduating at 2000 he started working for dance and theater groups as video-set artist in Holland. In 2001 he formed multimedia artist group “the Phillip Project” with American dancer and choreographer Michael Jahoda. The Phillip Project was based in Amsterdam and it’s goal was to present works of multimedia and performing arts as equal to each others. In addition to these collaborations Granqvist continued to create and exhibit his own artwork.

In 2010, he formed “Studio Portable” with photographer Kimmo Kokkonen in Kotka, Finland. Studio Portable still produces and exhibits video installations in Finland and abroad.

2012 Granqvist was selected as chairman of Kotka artists association. 2013 he directed and curated the first Kotka International Video & Electronic Arts Festival.

2014 he was involved with the German Art house project “Lichtschloss Lychen” and curated there the “Finnish Artists Do Brandenburg” art show.

At this moment Granqvist is working and exhibiting his art around the world. He is as well taking part of curating exhibitions around Europe.
